Edited by Valerie Mason-John and Kevan Anthony Cameron
The Great Black North is a contemporary remix of the story of Black Canada. These versatile little 100% cotton pouches are perfect for face and body cleaning. This originally designed crocheted creation is a totally Eco-friendly product made with either unbleached cotton or a vibrant mix of recycled fibers as a cotton & loofah blend ($10 each).

Mama says: Put A Hat On! is offering a mama-knows-best deal!

BUY bath body-pouch and receive an all-natural organic soap from FRESH as a gift with purchase (limited quantities) and know that part of the money you spend helps Support and Inspire All Women And Girls To Reach Their Full Potential.

Buy any combination of Put A Hat On! products (hat, Adinkra pouch, bath body-pouch, Wishmark 3-cards set) and receive a delicious bottle of green apple Gewurztraminer  and a discount coupon from STEAM TEA HOUSE (aka Nolan the tea-guy).

Also, on May 12th, Mama lends support with raffle prizes to the HALF THE SKY awareness day being held at Park Royal South 10am-5pm. The book HALF THE SKY presents stories of worldwide abuse and exploitation of women and girls and how they can be empowered to overcome adversity. The event was brought together around advocacy for the marginalised.

Organisers say:

Anyone who reads of the unbelievable, ongoing abuse of girls and women, yet sees their courage and resilience to overcome, will want to be part of that fight. Everyone can play a part in helping them build lives free of abuse, poverty and sex trafficking.

Mothers’ Day weekend is a wake up call for us to remember women of all ages who suffer inequality, discrimination and abuse.

We invite you to join us on Saturday, May 12th, connect with these organizations and learn about their courageous work. There will be opportunities for you to be involved, ongoing entertainment, activities for children and great raffle prizes.

Discover how you, too, can be involved and make a difference! HALF THE SKY awareness day is on May 12th.

The month of May contains so many dates to celebrate. Sure there’s Mother’s day on 13th, Cinco de Mayo on 5th, National Nurses day on 6th and Victoria day on 21st  but here are a few other observances you may not have known about:

1. Loyalty Day — May 1

2. Mother Goose Day — May 1

February Collection Additions

In Get Hats,Latest News,The Multi-Slouch on February 13, 2011 by sioso Tagged: , , ,

So although winter is wrapping up for a large collection of us West-Coast-Canadians it’s not yet fully finished and with that in mind here are some February hat collection additions. Which like your favorite fall sweater can still get sufficient use to not warrant being packed away too soon. The weather spins on a dime and late night blustery winds can always get staved off with a well worn hat.
So, Mama says: Put A Hat On (if only on stand-by)!
